Well, we are 6 days from the event that we have been planning for months. Vogt Farm along with 3 other inns is doing an event called “Entertaining for the Holidays”. We are giving food, decorating and gift ideas to you and in turn you bring non-perishable food for the local food banks (that is your admittance fee). Sunday, November 29, from 1-5. It should be a fun day for everyone.

Holidays, we love them and hate them. Back up and remember none of them were to make us stressful, we do that ourselves.

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks to God for all He has given us. When possible you get together with family. If your family isn’t close by invite others to your house, have them bring something for the dinner and get to know each other. Think of the “little old lady” down the street, I bet she would be thrilled to come, maybe she doesn’t cook any more but would buy some canned green beans for you to make that casserole. How about the man across the street that lives alone, he could buy the bread cubes for stuffing. See how this comes together. If any of you do this let me know, I want to hear all about it.

Here at Vogt Farm it is a time for family, noise (lots of that) and seeing who needs dinner. Actually I do my first Thanksgiving dinner this Thursday for some people that live alone. They all go to family for Thanksgiving so we are doing the dinner this week.

I know we haven’t had Thanksgiving yet, but this week we are in prepare  mode for our November 29 event of  “Tins to Inns”. You can read all about this on our specials page. The bottom line is that 4 innkeepers are doing an event to help the local food banks. You bring the tins to our inns and you get ideas on “Entertaining for the Holidays”. It includes food, decorating and gift ideas. It is from 1-5 pm and we would love to have you, and everyone you know.

Friends are so special. We have discovered here at the B&B that getting together to just visit without distractions is important. If you only have limited time together you do not want to be doing food and other household chores, Thus you get away with one another for a few days and meet at a B&B, wah-la all is cared for. We have had “the sisters” from all over that were celebrating a birthday, the friends that used Vogt Farm because in was between there homes and the families that met here for Thanksgiving and other holidays.

The Vogt Family goes on vacation together so I (the Mom) understand how special that is for everyone.
