Lancaster County is filled with cultural experiences. Most people think of the Amish when this is mentioned but I want to talk about another aspect of Lancaster County.
Western Lancaster County is home of the Falmouth Goat Races. This cultural event is held the last Saturday of September, this year that would be the 26th. It all started as a neighbor to neighbor bet about whose goat was the fastest, and has turned into a wonderful day of family fun. There is food (in Lancaster County we always have food), games, music, crafts, and of course the actual goat races. You will want to get there early to enjoy every part of the day.
It will be held at Governor Stable Park, on Governor Stable Road. Take Rt. 441 north to Governor Stable Road, turn right and the park is 1.5 miles on the right, or go further North on Rt. 441 and turn Right on Turnpike Rd. at Falmouth follow Turnpike Rd. to the sign for the park, turn right and the park will be on the left.
If you get there really early they will serve breakfast. Now, the best way to do this, is to stay at Vogt Farm and get a wonderful breakfast and then head out.
